Hi Rikki,
Welcome!!!
It's great to have you here.
You are so thoughtful and intelligent!
This will certainly be a boon for those who come here to get really sound and solid advice about CDing. It will also be nice to just have another friend here.

<p>And yet another CDDF deserter.... I believe James Hargreves is
overburdened with work and that is why he hasn't been keeping his
place clean. But a CD forum is inherently vulnerable and cannot
survive with an absentee webmaster. It's a pity, because I find
Parsimony's free-form layout particularly congenial and easy to
use. Like others here, I'll be looking in on James's place
occasionally, but it looks as if I've found a new home. <p>
Anyway, it's nice to see so many old friends already here. There
has not been a great deal of activity here in the past, but as the
refugees from CDDF come streaming in, that's bound to change. <p>

.
P.S. When I registered, I enabled HTML--or thought I did. But I
don't seem to be getting the paragraph breaks I asked for here.

Hi TerryGal,
Welcome!!!!
Yes, HTML was disabled when Shannon and Sharon put the board up.
You can use the BBCodes though.
It's sad that the CDDF may be coming to a tragic end. Maybe things will wind down and James will change the site to registered users only.
I wish him the best, but most importantly welcome!!!!

.
Two questions, then:
.
1. Why are we offered the option of using HTML when registering
if they disabled it?
.
2. How do I find out how to write/use BBCode? The FAQ says,
> For more information on BBCode see the guide which can be
> accessed from the posting page.
...but I don't see any link to any guide on any page.
.
Specifically...how can I insert a blank line to make paragraph separations clearer?
.

quick crash course in BBcode: use "[" and "]" instead of HTML's "<" and ">" . . . .
HOWEVER . . . BBcode apparently isn't working correctly in this forum either, OR I just don't have the magic touch . . .

Welcome, Rikki and Terry Gal
I'm glad to have 2 more quality posting people from CDDF over here!
Terry Gal, I hope you can get your HTML problems ironed out quickly.

Hey there Terry Gal,
Re: Why isn't BBCode working for me?
I just took a look at your post. I was able to go in because I am a moderator.
You clicked Disable BBCode in this post. Click on the edit button and you can go in and unclick that and the quote will show.
Re: Why do I read it's disabled, but in my profile it says I can enable it?
I'm not sure about why the board is set up this way because I'm only a moderator, not an administrator.

I am on another Board like this though and they do it to control the look and feel of the board.
On that board too, it says it's offered, but you can't make it work because the Admins have disabled it. It must be something in the software where after the administrator says, "No don't allow it" it still allows members to see it like it is an option.
Re: Where are the instructions on the page:
By putting your mouse over the different tags when you're posting like the B or i or underlined u it will show you the appopriate BBCode.
Re: How do I create paragraph breaks?
To create paragraph breaks just hit enter twice. It's the same as a <p> tag.
If when you're typing your post the paragraphs are apart, then they will be when you post.
These are great questions!!

I hope my answers helped.
