This is a great site and I am also a member.

This site is an excellent answer for those who don't like our setup or the rules we have here. This is also another great venue to talk about who you, get to know others who are living a similar life experience that we are too.

They also have an SO area. Their SO area is also hidden, but they don't have the restrictions that we do.

I'm sure anyone who joins will have great fun there!!!!

We totally endorse this site and wish them the very best!

I have Helen's other book "Who's Really from Venus: The Tale of Two Genders" and I'm reading it now. It's great!! She's a great author and spokesperson for our issues. I hope everyone can patronize their site and give them their full support. We do!

I am also a member there. It was hacked last week but has recovered quickly. They are still in the process of having all members re-register. It is a shame that all previous posts were lost.

I say so you know the lreason for the imited members and lack of posts. It is a great forum and I reccomend it.

Thanks Beauty, and thanks Genifer. Apparently, the board management at a higher level than Helen and Betty switched servers. The loss of messages was a shame. In effect, that board is a brand new board, but it is worth taking a look at. Of course, no one has to choose between this board and that one. We can participate on both.

I'm also on that board, one of 5 boards I participate in. I like the variety of people I interact with.

I must admit that I did not notice the slip-up, but Who’s Really From Venus? The Tale Of Two Genders is indeed by Peggy Rudd. (I think all of us occasionally forget which of our favorite authors wrote which book.) In checking out Amazon.com, I read the reviews of Who’s Really From Venus, and I think part of a review by Dana Rostov is thought-provoking enough to deserve quoting.

In a review, Dana Denyse Rostov wrote:The average MtF in a marriage or “traditional” relationship has made up his/her mind that what they are doing is what his/her partner will accept. He/She has rationalized everything out as to why this is acceptable [but] he/she hasn’t shared all of the lifelong rationalizations in a way that can be understood by a life partner. He/She has a tendency to only share only the “conclusions.”

Peggy Rudd does her best to try and get the point across that life partners of MtF Tgirls need explanations—need reassurances—need answers. Life partners want to listen; they want to love and accept. Life partners just need answers. Peggy accomplishes this in a way that not many authors have the ability and skill to do. Through the clever use of lists, recommendations, poems, and examples, she lays out easy scenarios that can lead to discussions that will allow both the Martian (him/her?) and the Venusian (him/her?) to vent, clear their thoughts, and understand.

If you want a book that is an easy read, will give you the opportunity to open up a dialogue between you and your life partner without embarrassment, and will allow you to honestly discuss the issue of transgender, this will get it done.

     Now that I have been visiting both the (en)gender board and this one for a while, I have a better sense of where the two are similar and where they are different. The two are remarkably similar in their emphasis on support. Both are helpful and encouraging towards CD’s and SO’s, and both have forums where only SO’s can post.

     As for where they are different, the (en)gender board encourages some kinds of discussions that are discouraged here. Notably, there is a significant amount of concern with transgender advocacy ( ← link). Both Betty and Helen are active in the National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE), a social justice organization dedicated to advancing fairness for transgender people through advocacy and collaboration with allies (such as lesbians and gays).

     Another area of discussion encouraged on the (en)gender boards is sexuality ( ← link), which for many people may be the single most important CDing topic. As Helen Boyd wrote, “There is an ongoing debate in the crossdressing community: are crossdressers straight or not? Often this is a wife’s number one question, and she can find plenty of evidence either way. Crossdressers’ sites proclaim heterosexuality, but there are plenty of online groups where so-called straight crossdressers post photos of themselves in next-to-nothing, and are available for chat with men” (Helen Boyd, My Husband Betty, pages 172-173).   Regarding those groups whose members are adamant that they not sexually unusual (typically proclaimed while wearing a wig and a dress), one is reminded of what Queen Gertrude said to Prince Hamlet, remarking on another woman’s denials: “The lady doth protest too much, methinks.”   At the very least, this is a significant subject.
