Election Pet Peeves

Post by Kathy »

OK, as long as we're venting about the election, we may as well have some fun with it...

The polls closed in Vermont at 7:00 PM; at 7:03 PM the television news channels were ALL declaring Vermont as a victory for Kerry.

Not even one ballot could have been counted by then! -,,-

1. Having seen a different Electoral count on every other channel! (Get it together, FOX News!!) #-o

2. Going to a friend's "Election Day" party and NOT having time to dress beforehand!

3. Being stuck at said party till 4 in the morning because we were glued to the TV watching the count! I was trying not to fall asleep as I had been up since 8am... zzzzzz

4. The scare of having a repeat of Florida's 2000 fiasco with Ohio this year! :?

Personally I think that the elections should be run in a similar way to initial public offerings.

NO media coverage for the 5 days before the election.
NO media reporting of polls or "unofficial counts" during the election.

wait, that means they would loose all that advertising money... or would they? Certainly TV has better things on?

I admit to watching though. Who doesn't love the drama? that's all it is. :)

ramble over.

Sig? What sig?
OH! THIS Sig! ;)

1. Exit polls (Kathy, Donna, that's how they do it).

2. Calling winners before the polls close on the West Coast (didn't happen this time, but it has before).

3. The near-impossibility of getting detailed local results the next day (I *still* don't know how much impact Nader had in Cuyahoga County).

The absentee ballots are cast first, so why are they always counted last?

Why are all the polling place workers always 90 years old?

Forget about Fox, they will say anything that Rove tells them. NBC also disappointed, but CBS showed some restraint. It's not like this is a scoop.

I DON'T. It is the biggest SHAM in America. They have already chosen who the next president will be no matter what the vote. Just look at Florida in 2000. They kept counting until they got who they wanted and then it was "official." Just as Edward G. Robinson said in KEY LARGO! It is a SHAM!

Just a reminder, Roberta-Llyan and Lori A, this thread is not supposed to be a serious discussion on politics, and you will see that the previous posters, 4 years ago, knew and understood that, and posted accordingly.

As I have mentioned elsewhere this morning:
SilverLady(SO) wrote:Everyone here knows, or should know by now, that political (and religious) discussions belong behind closed doors in the Hot Topics section.

I've already deleted one post, and that was one too many . . . the next time it happens the post or thread in question will either be locked, moved to Hot Topics, or deleted entirely. In addition, the member(s) posting such inflammatory content will be suspended for one week, guaranteed.
No further warnings will be issued.
