I decided to start a fresh thread for this topic. My question is: do you have a favorite song of songs that really move you?

For me it's the song Purple Rain by Prince.

Whenever I listen to the extended version from the Purple Rain album, I always get a little misty. I just finished listening to it and now my makeup is running. It is such a beautiful song.

My second choice is a church song I recall from my childhood entitled "On Eagles Wings". That song always put tears in my eyes every time I heard it.

I guess it just reflects some of where I am right now.
All my life I've been told that I'm "(fill in the blanK)'s big BOY", (fill in the blank)'s very good BOY, such a good BOY" and every time part of me inside has shriveled and writhed in pain and wanted to scream, and I've never been able to say, "NO, don't you call me that"!! Even this last weekend my 84 years-old mother, with love in her eyes, assured me I was "her big old dependable BOY", and it hurt just as much as it always has. Strange, huh?

The other, oddly enough, is "Into the West" by Annie Lennox from the LOTR: The Return of the King. Guarranteed tears from me for some reason.

I would have said Rod Stewart Ruby Tuesday, but that was around the time I was accepting this dressing in my head.

Right now anything at all from Avril Lavignes 2nd album, but I guess tracks 3 and 6, Don't tell me and Happy Ending.

Happy Ending is prolly my fav, all of her songs have such cool lyrics if you listen to them I can relate to every single song, that's why this album is my fav!

I mentioned in another thread the song Halloween by Ministry, it's like a biographical song about my life.

Now this will sound strange for me but I was with this wonderful guy one night and had a great time. One song that I remember hearing that night was The way you look tonight by Micheal Buble, and now that song is assosiated with that night. So I really get moved by that song.

If I hear a song when I'm having a good time, that song also becomes good, it doesn't matter on what style of music it might be.

A coworker of mine tried to get me interested in Morrissey and The Smiths a few months back. We both went to school in the 80s, and she couldn't believe that I'd never heard their music. I listened to mainstream/Top-40 radio in elementary/high school, and how many hundreds of bands did they play back then? If you didn't get hooked on a particular song, or if said song didn't become popular in your area, you might never get to know it.

That said, I discovered just last week that I did know a Smiths song, and it happened to be one I liked. It's from 1984, though I can only remember having heard it recently, perhaps on "The Breakfast Club", a local weekend 80s revival show. When I found the title, and read the lyrics, it seemed especially appropriate. I won't quote the whole song here, just the relevant part of the chorus:

I am human and I need to be loved
Just like everybody else does

What The World Needs Now - by Jackie Deshannon

Ever since I was a small child, that song has always left me feeling warm & fuzzy!!

The song that has moved me so much lately is "I wish it would rain down" or "rain" (for short) by Phil Collins. Though it seems lately a lot of his songs have a deep meaning for me. I missed going to his concert tonite--but well, the $85 a ticket just was not in my budget. **sighs**
