Two elderly ladies had been best friends for many decades. Over the years they had shared all manner of adventures and activities. But in their declining years, about all the activities they were able to pursue was limited to meeting to play cards a few times a week.
One day as they were playing cards, one looked at the other and said,
"Now don't get offended.... I know we have been friends for many, many years, but I just can't think of your name. I started to say something to you a few minuets ago, and I just went blank, and I cannot jog my memory, so please won't you tell me your name?"
The other lady glared at her for a good several minutes, her eyes narrowing more and more, and finally she asked, "Well, how soon do you need to know?"
