Listen to yourself.

I have to tell this only because I don't normally do things like this. Every morning i have a routine. I check the chlorine levels in our well systems and then check out our sewage plant to make sure it is running properly. Recently we had a family move into the park and a so called friend of thiers was stealin from them. Last monday morning as I drove up and parked close to the tenants home to check the chlorine levels in the well, I thought to myself " Lock the doors" then the voice in the back of my head says "no don't lock the doors". I shut off my van, put up the windows and locked the doors. When I returned to my van 10 mins. later I made a vital discovery. I LOCKED my keys IN the Van. Of course I cursed at myself for doing such a stupid thing. Fortunately the back windows ( which only open a little bit) were open. Me being who I am devised a plan to get my van open. while I was working on opening the back hatch of the van I stopped and laughed at myself because that little voice spoke up again and said " see why I said not to lock the doors". Needless to say I was able to get the van open during all of this. Sometimes we really need to listen to ourselves.

When I was little I remember going to the supermarket with my Mother. We got to the checkout and she opened her handbag up and pulled out half a pound of butter! Her purse was at home in the fridge!
trust me Dom - you're not alone!

I think a lot of people have that, particularly men who are supposed to be rational, hard-nosed and not given to any of this "I knew it instinctively" type nonsense.
I certainly have it and have had to train myself to listen to it from bitter experience (like I would never be able to get the metaphorical car door open). I'm pretty clear that it's the voice of "my woman" - and her voice tends to be very reliable.

Dom, that reminds me of an incident that happened to me many years ago.
I was driving a propane delievery truck. I had a customer on my route that burned 100 gals an hour and I had to fill them about every 12 hours,.
I came into the yard late after filling them and decided to fill my truck so I would be ready to fill them in the morning first thing.
I had gone through the office and left it unlocked as I could see it from the fill area. I filled my truck and started to disconnect the hoses and had a feeling that something wasn't right and thought it was at the office.
I started the truck to head to the office and heard a pop and saw propane spraying around. Something was wrong all right, I had unhooked the vapor hose but had forgotten the liquid hose.
To complicate things, the safety valve didn't seal so I had to avoid the liquid propane while getting to the manual valve. It could have got real interesting though if I hadn't got things shut down.
Eighteen thousand gals of propane going downhill 2 blocks to a refinery would have made a big bang.
