Incidence of made-up stories on this board? - Closed

I'm just curious:

Do you think that any CD stories people post on this board are made up? I ask this because people on another board claim that many stories are BS.

Although, once in a blue moon, a story may appear 'unusual', we try to give the benifit of the doubt. It does't do much good to try and call a person out on their post. We're all free to believe or not. Just remember that attacking someone else's post is a no no. One can easily express their doubts without getting personal using terms like, IMHO (in my humble opinion) etc.

Daniel,

Have you read through a significant number of posts here? I have and can't recall any that I would not deem plausable. Nothing has had an air of sensationalism.

I am not interested in having examples quoted. I'm just surprised because what you asks seems not be in line with my experience on this forum. Other forums "fer sur"! But not here.

Hugz,
Carol B

Hi Daniel--
On at least one other forum I go to, many of the stories do seem made up to me. I ignore them, but some of them make me angry, and I'm not sure why. Why should I care, if I'm not going to respond in any way?
Nonetheless, I can then understand why others on the forum DO attack these stories--it may not be a pretty part of human nature, but I seem to share it. I don't want to be toyed with in that way!
I feel manipulated by that stuff, as much as I work on not letting it affect me.

I almost never have that feeling about what I see posted here. Occasionally I have seen a one-time poster write in a style that doesn't work well on this forum, and they usually never post again. How much of that is the work of moderators, I don't know. There is a strong consistency in the postings here. As for the other forum, well, I understand why people might claim that much of it is misleading. It would be nice if people did not feel compelled to attack such a posting; I do tend to believe in ignoring troll posts.

Hi girls,

I have never read a story here that I flat out thought was untrue. I think what we do is difficult enough to talk about without embelishing it. If however there are stories here, that are in fact untrue, it would make little difference to me.

While I really do enjoy, and have benefited from others stories and writings here, it was not to emulate them, but rather the lesson learned. If the lesson is valid, it makes no difference to me if the story was actually true. Kind of the way fables teach us things.

I guess I am looking more for the message behind the story, than the story itself. And again, I find most of what I hear to be authentic, or at least it sounds plausable enough to me to be authentic.

Love always,
Elizabeth

I've read some postings in "Your Beginnings" or "New Members" which seem somewhat unbelievable, but I'm always willing to give the benefit of the doubt to anyone. Truth is stranger than fiction.

Often these postings are one time only posters. There are many complimentary comments made after them but no response from the poster.

I have noticed in the past that some of these postings have been moved to the "Creativity Corner" area.

Very good anwsers,
I have never posted "my beginnings" as I know most people would think I was making it up. I have only told my story to my wife and only when she ask. After that she said " now I understand" and I can believe it. (--) Carol Ann

I do not think the postings are fabrications of someones imagation.
This I believer is that this group appeares to be more mature and self confident about who they are and what they are seeking in life. We as a group are willing to learn and teach each other about our experiences and thoughts. I have read other websites and find that the sensationalism of them is the thrust of the group. That I feel does not exist here.
