okay...1st thing here, is, I am no bible thumper. but I do know, somewhere out there, are folks that do have a faith and I am merely asking,..does anyone here have a conflict or have had,..a conflict, with their own religion while dealing with their CD life?

I am mildly curious, about this. religion is something that can be very emotionally strong in someone and I know, so is being a CD.
they are both imbeded very strongly.

so, is there, are there, anyone herein with or had any conflict with themselves?

Well since I'm kinda of agnostic I really don't have any problem like that... But living in the bible belt of Southern WV for a while I found out that people take all kind of things out of context from the bible and it gets pretty strange!! An employee of mine would wear long sleeve shirts year round because there was some reference to bare arms in the bible!! Then there was the church with the snakes!! Ekkkkk.. Talk about scarry people!!!

So times have changed... And I just want to thank that ancient woman who decided that her toga would look prettier with some lace, fringe, and a low neck line!! Hehe. Ohhh. And in pink!!

For me, the answer is no. Heck, I don't remember Deuteronomy ever being taught in church or religion classes.

I am sorry if this is something no one here can deal with. it just seemed like an intelligent ADULT question that seemed harmless.

At one time I was troubled by that passage. I am not any longer.

At the risk of moving this to Hot Topics I'll give a bit of an explanation.

I do lots of things contrary to the teachings of the Bible. To cite a very troubling example it says that it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to go to heaven. By the standards of most of the world I am incredibly wealthy-almost all Americans are. We eat everyday and do all sorts of things that half of the world does not. I figure the fact that I spend my money on things like a nice home, clothes, books, CDs, furniture, and whatnot when half the world is close to starving to death is far more selfish and sinful than wearing a dress. So unless God is planning not to forgive a great many people I am in a lot of trouble. But the church I am in is heavy into forgiveness and I do try to treat others the way I would like to be treated. As to what I wear, I try not to hurt anyone. I figure God will forgive me for that if He will forgive me for paying taxes that go to pay for nukes.

Funny how that passage about the eye of the needle doesn't get that much attention anymore. It was emphasized a lot when I was a kid and used to scare the daylights out of me.

Then most (all) women I know are doomed! jeans? T-shirts? Oh wait, society has deemed that to be okay. CDing will be deemed okay at some point, so...

But as to my religion (Buddhist/Taoist), no. We don't care how people dress.

Sure I struggled with religion and crossdressing. As a person of faith (Christian) I struggled for a few years until I found the answer I was searching for.
The short of it is I am comfortable with myself and I know my God loves me for what I am.

The books of Deuteronomy and Leviticus are perplexing for Christians. They also include such laws as the eating of pork and shellfish and the wearing of clothes with mixed fibers (what today we call "blends"). These laws have evolved into what today we refer to as "keeping Kosher". My perspective, and that is one of a liberal Lutheran (ELCA), is that these laws given to the ancient Israelites do not apply to us. While I'm no Bible scholar, my first thought is of the conversion of Cornelius who was the first Gentile to join the Christian faith who in his conversion was not expected to keep the old laws

Before this gets put into hot topics (which I dont seem to have a button for, where is it?) This is my 2 cents.
I have studied the Christian bible at some length and it has always been important to keep things in their historical perspective. The Deuteronomy passage has a historcal context that most people dont even know i think mostly nobody asks. History is pretty boring to a lot of folks. he short version explanation is that it was a time when God was trying to organize a group of people who had been slaves for a long time into something a bit more distinctive and civilized.
Unfortunately there are some we all know who take every word in those 66 books and try to translate them into a list of "standing orders" with penaltys and such. It is unfortunate.
I still find it amazing the negative reaction to the one whos main message was to get us to love and respect one another. As if somebody looses if we do that!
