buying for your wife instead of you

Back first of July on a femme outing day for me I tried on some dresses at Sears, but I had opted not to get any of them. There were all to formal for what I needed and money was tight. Well on the femme outing my wife and I went on in Mpls I showed her the dress and she just fell in love with the dress. Hummm similar tastes? Well they did not have her size, but I could tell she just loved the dress. Well last night I had a few hours to myself and so I usually walk the mall and do window shopping mostly. Well this Sears still had that dress and it was on final clearance, 75% off the clearance price which made it less than 15 dollars. But the dress was one size larger than she normally takes. Well I decided to get it anyway. I would not be out much if it did not fit. Well it did fit her, just need to hem it up. And I had a happy wife.
Has anyone else bought something for their wife that they would have liked to have gotten for them self?

Yes definitely. We have somewhat similar taste in clothing. She is one size smaller than me and on occaision I have bought 2 of something, one in each size.
At tag sales and goodwill I have also tried stuff on that was for my wife to see if it would fit her. Not lingerie but stuff like sweaters. One woman at a tag sale thought it was kind of cute.
Since i have two teenage daughters as well I have gotten used to shopping for womens things that are clearly not for me due to size. From there it was a natural extension to stuff that is my size since the sales people do not know my family.
When actually shopping for my family (not me) I have found that if I ask questions of other lady shoppers they are usually very pleased to be helpful.

Many times - I have bought many pretty feminine items for my SO, including jewelry and even a sexy nightie at Victoria's Secret. As a matter of fact, I have done more shopping for her than for myself. This is all very selfish, actually, since the stuff I buy for her is all stuff that I'd love to have myself, but is not suitable for my shape, size and age. I enjoy the procedure.
The few times I have gone shopping for myself, I go en femme, and that takes preparation and courage. Most of my femme things are bought on line.
Good question, Kim,
Hugs,

As far as shopping goes, I always shopped on-line. When I finally got up the courage to go by myself I went to Mall of America and picked out a nice top, skirt and a dress. When I showed the top to my SO, she fell in love with it! Later, we went back to the mall and I bought her one also.

Not not ago I went to fashion bug and they were having a great sale, and I bought a few items for myself.
The next day I went back, figuring to get something I saw and liked, but thought it would best suit her. I got her a couple of real pretty tops I thought she'd like to wear when she went to TX, as they were light as well.
She looked at them, thought they were very pretty, but never tried them on. In fact she put them back in the bag, and set it on her sewing desk. A gift receipt was in the bag as well.
We have different tastes, and although pretty, not her style, apparently.

Oh well, what can you do?
A couple of months later, I found them on her desk. I've since worn both tops to the club.

DH and I talked about this last night. My birthday is coming up, and I told him he has NO EXCUSE not to buy me clothes this year. In previous years he said he'd feel insecure that whatever he bought me wouldn't fit or I wouldn't like it, saying "I don't know anything about women's clothing". Now that I know about his CDing, I figure if he can pick stuff out for himself, he can certainly pick stuff out for me too. I told him to buy things he'd like to see ME wearing, though, rather than things he'd be tempted to "borrow" from me. I told him his excuse is null and void now, since I know he spends alot of time thinking about and looking at women's clothing. So HA! Finally a part of this CDing that works totally in my favor!

Hehehehehe.....
I now find myself looking for frilly lacy things for him as well. I went into JCPenny the other day looking for nursing bras (I had good success there when I was pregnant with Devlyn, but my boobs are WAY bigger already with this second pregnancy and my old nursing bras aren't sufficient anymore) and I found myself looking at a really cute bra and panty set.... In Joe's size. Totally NOT my style.... It was all pink and lacy and had bows all over it, but he'd really like it. LOL. Crazy, I know. I didn't end up buying anything for myself OR for him, but I found it odd that I went in with a specific purchase in mind for myself but was ALMOST swayed into buying something totally for him. Need to watch out for that. I'll find myself broke (or in debt) with a hubby with better undergarments than I have! LOL!

When we go on a shoping trip, I always buy my wife something that I think she might like.....then when we look at bras and panties we chose what matching set we want and I get one and she gets a matching set...found out less stress that way....this trip I will look at pants and tops and try to get one that we both think will look good on me.....just hope she goes along with the plan........

What, you don't want a vacuum or pots&pans?

Tiffany, sadly that often seems the case. But also better is not always prettier. I think comfort and function should count for a lot. If the bra can not be worn for all day straight with a reasonable comfort factor that would be a major mark against it pretty or not. Well except for maybe some CDers. And this is something that I will step out on a limb and say most CDers wear a bra all day, day after day.

I LOVE your attitude Tiffany!
My wife and I have similar tastes in 'classic' styles but very different tastes when it comes to edgier fashions. I'm always keeping my eye out for newer stuff that might work for me without trying to look like a teenager. (C'mon, some of those styles are just sooo cute!) When I'm out looking for clothes for myself, occasionally I'll see something that I know my wife would like and pick it up for her.
When it comes to birthdays or Christmas, I usually head for one of her favourite stores to make the selection process easier, but alas, I seem to spend more time in there than I would if I wasn't TG. Such is life.

I am constantly buying things for my girlfriend that i would like to wear. In my situation though she shares so if i really like something i'll get to wear it eventually

And she is always coming home with stuff for me that she piked up while thinking of me and shopping
