An article about a crossdressing professor in Canada, one of the organizers of Fantasia Faire.

Thanks Lisa for this it was a very interesting article.
First, I could do with out the title. "the Naughty Professor," but it did give me another reason (s) to try and attend the "Fantasia Fair" next year.
For me, it really told me nothing that I did not already know but it expressed some thoughts in ways that make things clearer.
I guess one of the things that confirm what most of us know is that there has not been enough research or may never be on who or what we are and why! Of course if I can editorialize a bit, I don't really care. I am who I am, I have accepted it and I love it!
One bit of enlightenment that I got was possibly how gays and lesbians see "us" when we are out in public. It would appear that for most gays and lesbians they would see us (initially) as either pre or post OP, not just a crossdresser. This would just add credence to our acceptance in the GLBT community. Of course once they get to know us they find that we are nice folk!
Also, guess I will have to coin my term, NOTS as I did not see it expressed as one of the "accepted" terms to describe us.
Thanks so much for posting the article. It just further confirms that we are not alone, we are not freaks but we still have a ways to go!!
Love,
Virginia

I thought that was an excellent and interesting article from an outsider's perspective. It covered a lot of the misconceptions about us, and I thought, explained them in a balanced way. Also, I've known Miqqi for a number of years and thought the article 'captured' him quite well. He's been a great advocate for our community here.

Great article, one I would love to give my wife for the "executive overview" of her husbands hidden life.
Sure we (CDF membes) all know this info personally, but for outsiders it is an accurate, balanced story with no agenda or exploitive reason d'etre.
The title, I'm sure, came from the editor trying to make the story noticed and catchy by playing off, "The Nutty Professor". (my humble opinion only)
Great find. Hope you're all well, safe and happy. rr

Hello all: Good article. Thanks for posting the link. I've read a number of Prof Gilbert's articles in TRANSGENDER TAPESTRY and actually met "her" at the IFGE convention held in Arlington, VA in 2000. That was my first IFGE convention, and only the second or third time I'd been "dressed" in a public place. And almost the only thing I had to wear were a few cheerleader outfits! Apparently I did make an impression on the convention attendees.
I've now been to a few more IFGE (International Foundation for Gender Education) conventions and had a good time at all of them (and was able to show a more varied wardrobe!).
Peace-- Kendra Lynn ("hippie cheerleader").
