After all these years of wearing some of my wifes clothes, I finally got started on my own wardrobe. See, every time she would misplace a piece of clothing, she would look at me and ask, "You don't know where it is? / You haven't had it? " with that look, . So the last time she asked me, I went to her later and told her that I was thinking of getting some of my own clothes and stay out of hers. She was understanding, like she is at times ( not much tho ) and said it was ok ( after a slight pause ). Later that night I went to the PC to place my order ( she didn't know that I had a bag saved at Penney's, ). I just couldn't wait to go pick it up! Picked it up on a Wednesday, but didn't get to try them on till Saturday. I told her that I was going back to the bedroom to try my outfits on and if she would like to see them. I knew she would find them so might as well show her what I got. So I proceeded to model them for her. One outfit, a top/skirt set,didn't fit right and she didn't like it anyway, but no big deal. The others she thought fit ok and looked fine. When she asked what I spent, that suprised her as everything was on sale and I spent less then she thought. So now I have a start on my new wardrobe.
A long chiffon sleeveless/drapeneck dress in black with white flowers.
Light blue SJB active wear jacket/pants in light blue velour with white T.
Levi's boot cut jeans (think I should have gotten next size down on these).
Also have a couple of pair of Legg's panty hose, Haynes high cut panties which I usually wear under my jeans on weekends, bra and high heels with crossing straps.
I can now not wait when I get to dress up and am looking at getting more outfits of my own. The only problem is sometimes I get the impression that she is wondering if she should have let me buy them. When I say I am going to change, she still gets upset at times and she never wants to talk or anything when I am CDing. Just wish I had more time to change or she would be more open. But that may not happen as she is so old fashioned and keeps asking if I am turning gay. I will just have to try and stay at ease and happy with myself and hope she changes,

One small step for our motto "baby steps, just baby steps" and one giant step for Valerie!

Do you share a closet or does Valerie have her own closet. Given a choce, I think you should try for your own closet as if she is not quite "accepting" then it is like "throwing it in her face" everytime she goes to dress! Oh, I can guarantee you she will go through your closet and critique your wardrobe. My "ex" use to critique mine and it was not nice but I can also guarantee you that I could out dress her even on my VERY worst day!!!

Anyway, glad you have taken that step and don't even think about purging.

Good to hear you've started your own wardrobe, but don't get carried away. I imagine your wife will, at some point, make mention of how much you've spent, even if it was on sale, because she's still not to keen on the idea of you having such a wardrobe.

So, as we say, baby steps.

As for the items that don't fit right, return and exchange means more shopping.

Try to keep the quanity low in a seperate closet. Perhaps in the future she may add to your collection. Try not to outdo her in clost quanity. Goodluck in the baby step.

Valerie, very good move to get your own clothes. I say my wife's things are hers and not mine. What my wife gives me is mine unless she wants it back. My things and what I buy are mine and hers if she wants them. My wife has borrowed a few of my things over time. More of an acquired from me is more like it. Most recently a brown purse that I got mid-year. She has taken more than a liking to it as in uses it all of the time. In her words from the other day when we were talking and I gave her a hard time about my purse, "there is some benefit out of it for me".

That sounds like someone is slowly coming around.
