Central Ohio support groups

General talk about CD/TGing and gender topics that aren't necessarily fun things we do while en femme, or for gender-driven discussions.

Central Ohio support groups

Any body here familiar with any central Ohio support groups?

How about this :

Thought of emailing her mostly to understand why I CD, not because I need help or want SRS. Some times I just wonder why. I enjoy the times I get to CD and often my mind wonders as I am looking at other females as to how they dress. Must keep up on fashion, you know.
I was thinking of maybe checking one out one of the groups this year. I am not the socializing type right away ( slightly shy/backwards ) but do make friends easily. What goes on at these meetings? Just socializing with others? I thought this might be a way for me to get out with others like me and enjoy being Valerie out of the house,

Support groups, for the most part, are good for getting out and socializing.

Some even get out of the meeting room and go do other activities, like museums, restaurants, etc.

I've met a number of other CDs from support groups, and all have been friendly, although I've never joined a group myself.

As to why we, or you CD, that's a question you'll need to find your own answer to. No one can tell you why YOU do.

The general consensus is, we are transgendered in some way. Likely as a result of genetics and/or hormones. And we are born transgendered.

At some point, we come across a trigger that clicks in our brain and turns on our trans gene. My trigger was seeing a girl in my class dress her brother as a girl so they could play. I had no interest in girls at the time, but when I saw what was happening, I wanted to be the one she was dressing up. I was probably 6 or 7 years old at the time.

BUT, do we really need to know why? Maybe, for peace of mind, but we really need to accept ourselves for who we are.

Support groups are very helpful.
Getting to one of the big get togethers like BeAll in Chicago or Southern Comfort is what kind of blew the lid off my shyness. Once you go to one of those... well its never the same.

I havent been out terribly long, but have been fortunate enough to find support groups in several locations. If nothing else one of the most comforting things about attending seems to be a prevailing sense of non-judgementalism, non-aggressiveness, and validation. All good for the soul you might say.

One thing for sure, even though we all have something in common, there seems to be no particular common denominator that would indicate cause and effect as to why we do this. Everyone has a different idea how this comes about. Very, very, very subjective. My personal view is that it starts with our inherent individual brain wiring, After that it gets more complicated as experience, hormones, and environment take over.
All I can personally say for sure is that there is a definite positive psychological response to our subconscious somehow or other. I think most would agree to that.

Hope you8 find a suitable group to attend!
