Q: Clear nail polish when en drab?

I prefer to keep clear polish (varnish for the UK) on my nails at all times. Of course, my SO

is embarrassed. I'd really appreciate others' opinions, including SOs. Thanks! (Terribly shallow for a first post, I realize.)

I see nothing wrong with that. Seems that if you do it all the time, your SO would be use to it.

I've gone out with pink and red nails. My SO got a kick out how the checkout lady at one store appeared to be taken back by my pink nails.

I think it's absolutely no problem wearing nail varnish, especially clear, out. I don't think it shouts 'crossdresser', there are plenty of men who have manicures these days, if David Beckham can wear pink nail varnish then I'm sure you can wear some with pride!

I don't know if you can get the brand of polish called "OPI" in the UK? They make a wonderful clear varnish that has a matte finish. My manicurist has been using on my bi-weekly appointments and the stuff is amazing as it has strengthened my nails.......

Hi Kerri here,

Yes OPI is available in the UK. My favourite red polish is OPI. I frequently wear nail polish while in male garb. I use a shade of pink which closely resembles my natural colour. I wore it recently while visiting my niece, and her mother. Neither noticed.

I always put my polish on when my wife is not around, like in the loo. I dont tell her, she doesn't need to know.

In addition to nail polish, I use feminine deodorant and body spray every day for work; also hand cream and face cream. At weekends I often dab some of my perfume on my wrists. Occasionally I try a sample from the displayin the Shopping Mall. I regularly wear panties and hose too. But I dont tell anybody! Its no big deal. They dont need to know.

I like to use clear or very light pink nail polish when in drab. I also like to use some light lip gloss or a bit of lip stick that is almost exactly my natural color. A bit of blush helps too.

Some of us like to "push the envelop" I like to wear a bit of masacre along with clear or slightly tinted nail polish, as well as perfume and of course painted toe nails. Most people don't even notice anyway.

I'm on vacation from work this week, and had a manicure on Monday, getting my clear polish renewed. Again, the SO wants to draw a boundary

there, and I really don't like it. For two weeks, noone at work, or at any restaurant we frequent, or even at the automotive dealership gives any kind of look or comment to me. I honestly believe the majority of people don't care, and it's one of the little things I do for myself that make me feel better.

Oh, I've already had several French manicures and pedicures. I love how clean and neat they look. The ladies at the salon have known me for over two years now, and don't give me a bit of trouble. They know what I like, and how well I tip for good service.

Hey Zippy, I like using an off tone color (blush),then lightly sand or buff to take the gloss finish off. Then I will top coat with a clear coat and lightly sand. I finish off with a nice buff. It leaves a beautiful finish that tones down the gloss. I was a painter by trade, and I just love to experiment. Ellie

Hello ladies,
I always use clear gloss on my toe nails and always shave my legs. If people don't like it that's too bad! Life is short.I'm 55 years old and at this point in my life I don't give a damn what others think. Luv you all!
