In grown hairs

Does anyone else have problems with in grown hairs? I sure do. And I am about ready to call it quits on removing hair from my chest because of it. I have been eppilating and tweezing my chest hair for about a year now. From the start I had problems with in grown hairs. I was hoping it would quit happening. It has slowed down some but I still get some bad in grown hairs and many more minor ones. I exfoliate all the time. I tried after shaving / hair removal lotions and they did help some but I still get then. I have tried regular lotion after the pores close and that helps but I still get them. I have even tried both exfoliating with a scrubby for that purpose. And later the scrubby followed by using a razor. I have even exfoliated to the point of being raw.

But I still get lots of bumps as the hairs come out and in grown hairs. My wife has even given me tips but every thing I have tried I keep getting them. Anyone else have this problem with in grown hairs? Any suggestions?

Look for a product called "Tend Skin". It is something my wife uses after shaving. I don't know to much about it because I have never used it.

Another product to consider is "Bump Stop". I've found this product at CVS, Walgreen's, and WalMart Super Center.

If you don't find the product near the regular shaving section, see if the store has an ethnic area in the Health & Beauty section as Bump Stop was designed for black males - due to the 'kinkiness' of their hair - which has a natural tendency to become ingrown after shaving.

As with all health and beauty products, it usually takes about 3 weeks of regular use for the results to become noticeable, so don't expect instant miracles in any product you choose.

Tend skin works for some, but doesn't have enough acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin). A newer product is MiN Solution2 and is made with is made with aspirin and organic spearmint.

The probllem you are having is due to the damage caused to the hair's root by tweezing/epilating. This damage results in the fact that hair simply does not grow straight from the root.

I suggest, if laser is out of the question, just shaving more often and forget about yankinng the hair out.

Even with shaving some hairs will tend to be ingrown, but for a different reason, and easier to treat with the MiN Solution2 or Tend skin.

Note that you can take and make your own soultion using liquid aspirin (if you can find), or by using BC powder or crushing non-coated aspirin and mixing with alcohol and witch hazel.

Also, there is a produact called Neutrogena's Body Clear Body Lotion (Active Ingredients: Salicylic Acid (2%) (Acne Treatment))

Thank you for all of the comments. And sorry for the delay in getting back to them. Been working extra hours at work and busy with the house.

The two products I have used are Priva Shave and BikiniZone. Both helped a lot. I will look for the Trend Skin, Bump Stop, and MiN Solution2 products.

To give you an idea on the type of ingrown hairs it is nothing for me to pull out a one inch hair once to several times, a week a two inch one about once or twice a month. Have even pulled out a three inch one once. And I currently have on that has grown under the skin about two inches and come out. Pull on it it and it pulls the skin over and breaks somewhere in the middle.

I really do not want to go back to shaving it and my wife does not like the stubble. I may need to find some more higher neck tops again.

I've found that regular exfoliation with a salt scrub makes a difference for me - I couldn't say if it makes a bigger difference doing it before or after hair removal. I've just been doing it regularly as part of my general self-pampering and highly recommend it.

Bump Stop is a very good product I have used before. Like yourself in grown hairs are an issue.

Thank you everyone for the comments and suggestions. Per my wife's suggestion I have begun to just let the hair grow and just continue to work on the ingrown hairs as they come. Once I get things settled down and stable and no ingrown hairs my wife said to get it waxed all at once. I am skeptical that will work but willing to give it a try. As I am so tired of the in grown hairs. So I am back to hairy cleavage and need to work up some higher neck lines.
