What was old is now new again

I was watching morning television and an ad came on for Chico's. For those of you girls fortunate to have one nearby to theme you have to shop there. They are very gender friendly, well at least the one in Monterey was as well as a few others I have been in while on vacations, and have excellent and stylish clothes. This ad showed the latest fall trends and two were gauchos and stirrup pants. Not sure about the gauchos as I was never fond of that look when it first came out back in the late 70's but I adored stirrup pants! They are very comfortable and figure flattering and so feminine. Maybe that love comes from the ones my mother used to wear back in the mid 60's but back then they called them ski pants. It was about the time I was starting to explore my femininity and I can still picture her in them with the garter bumps from her girdle showing through.

I saw the same ad Trudy and thought something similar myself. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we all had closets large to keep all our old clothes? After all don't they eventually come back in style again?
Personally I liked gauchos and the whole late 70's - early 89's look. Then again that was when I transitioned and have a lot of fond memories. Time has a way of dulling the bad times I have found. Stirrup pants were OK, they did offer a change in casual styles but I was more fond of the leggings and tunic tops of that era. OK know leggings are back in style but at least back then we had the common sense to wear a longer top to hide our behinds.

Having missed all the fashions you are talking about I look forward to the "new" fashions. I have this purple and black plaid skirt. It's short and figure hugging. The first time my mother saw it on me she just smiled and got out a picture of her from when she was young and was wearing a baby and yellow plaid skirt that looked exactly mine. She has always said that if you wait long enough it will come back in style. I think she's right but there is a whole generation of us who weren't around when they were in the first time so let us have our fun!
