A quick mani to test new basecoat.

So there I was wandering round Youtube as I'm inclined to do looking at makeup tutorials when I stumbled on a video that got my attention. In this video she was wearing normal nail polish but with a different base coat that allowed her to peel off the top coat layers without any nail polish remover.

She painted her nails first with three coats of white glue (Elmers, PVA, School Glue) letting each coat dry before the next. Then applied her colour coat. I followed the instruction and tried it. Here's the result.

It wasn't the best mani by any means as it was mainly to try the basecoat idea. It survived doing the dishes, using Noxzema to remove my foundation, my shave and face wash. I dried my hands quite vigorously to see if that would damaged the polish but it held up very well. In the video she said it will normally last 2-3 days before showing any signs of wear and tear. When all was done I used a nail to scrape down from the cuticle and sure enough it all peeled up.

Now we need you to wear it for a week and let us see the damage after. For now, the application looks good. I like how smooth it turned out.

Thanks for sharing. :)

You are actually damaging your nails when you do that. I suggest you stick with the nail polish removers.

Yeah  I don't think even with ultra careful use it would last a week, at most 2, 3 days. I was surprised though how the waterproof polish protected the water based glue, I wouldn't do a mani like this and jump in the pool that's for sure.

Oh really?? didn't know that, thanks for the warning. I just wish they made a nail polish remover that doesn't have that tell tale odour.
