I went through every bra calculator and I am a 46AA on Hanes, 40C at Lane Bryants, and 40D on the ladybwear site. Hmm. My goal was to be a D cup. Maybe I need to assess my progress with Ladybwear

I posted something similar in another thread but will try to help out here.
I was properly measured but still had to go through the "trial and error" thing.
Advice....when you find the right fit....buy several more of the same bras as the manufacture may not keep the same style around for long. If they make a second run of the same style, it may be made in a different country and may not fit the same.
Underwire bras.....
You may find that you need to reshape the ends of the wires. The outer ends of the wires may need to be bent out to stop them from digging into you. This is because the male breasts are further apart than tose of a GG.

I wear anything from a 40D to a 42AA depending on the bra sizing method used in just the links here. I'm beginning to think the manufactures just make up something based on the demographic to make the customer happy. Oh well sure is fun trying them all on!!

Well, I can assure you that the +5" thing doesn't work. I've a 45 inch chest under the breasts, and a 48 bra is too big. 44 is the better fit.
When my wife was measured at Victorias secret, there was no adding of inches to her size. They took the measurement on the tape and used it directly.

I have given up with bra sizes, no two bras are ever the same, even though they are supposed to be the same size, I just try a load on and go for what is most comfortable and looks like the best fit i.e it doesn't ride up at the back, no bulges over the front etc.
Danielle, I think you're right, I have noticed a trend towards people being told they are smaller in circumference, but larger in cup sizes, to make us feel better about ourselves I suppose

I heard a manufacturer say on T.V, a 34B fits the same as a 32C...32C sounds 'better' so a store assistant measuring you, would more likely tell you that you are a 32C. I have measured myself using two different measuring guides. I was a 34B OR a 32C depending which measurement I used...gotta say... I was happier with the 32C measurement
