Expensive face creams, Potions and Lotions

USA-NBC program "Dateline" recently exposed the Creams, Potions and Lotions industry. A British Chemist explained that the majority of high priced creams, lotions and potions were nothing more than a basic formulae that hydrates the skin (holds in moisture causing the skin to plump and look fuller). Further, he compared the idea to using "lard" on the face to do the same thing. Of course, these products are designed not to clog the pores of the skin, where frequent use of "lard" would require a very thourough scrubbing each day.
In the USA, our Federal agency, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is responsible for monitoring the industry. They do not seem to be bothered unless there are sufficient complaints filed against a manufacturer over a specific product. Otherwise, it is buyer beware!
So, forget all that hype girls. I use a very basic chemistry product from Johnsons. Their 24 hour moisturizing lotion gentle enough for babies. It works. It holds in moisture, plumps the skin and makes me look radiant. No $250.00 rejuvenating creams, lotions or potions for me. They do not really do anything except take your money honey and keep taking it. Oh yes, they "plump" your skin like my $2.50 bottle of Johnson's 24 hour moisturing lotion does but really that is it.
Anything that would really go into the skin is heavily regulated as a controlled substance by the FDA. You need a Doctor's prescription for anything that can really effect your body's cell structure. Most items on the open market are anything more than topical agents. Our Federal government does not trust us to know how to use things that really work for the most part. Besides, it has created a very highly lucrative business for the medical community.
Johnson's 24 hour moisturing Lotion.....about $2.50 for 9 oz. bottle. Many fine stores including Walmart, Kmart, etc carry this product.
I remember what my Chemistry Professor told me, "if it sounds to good to be true, then it's from the cosmetic and beauty industry!"
