Ouch! Ouch! (But I feel sooooo smooth!)

I was going through the local pharmacy and saw the various hair removal products and saw one that would remove facial hair, and another formulation that would remove body hair. So I bought both of them !!!
Well... the facial hair removal did a great job...I did my sideburns, neck, upper lip, cheeks..in short my whole face...and the back of my neck. I then did my chest (maybe a little too thoroughly - see later

and my thighs and my butt). After a few minutes I wiped off as directed. The effect was great !

It is a lot more thorough than shaving and especially on my face I wonder if I will have to shave to the next couple of days ! Panties feel absolutely wonderful now - a lot better than shaving ever was!!!!
But...there are some areas of sensitivity. I re-did my face since there were a few hairs left...mistake !! I got all red and blotchy in that place.
I rubbed some shaving cream with aloe vera on my face and that seemed to help and a little powder covered it up well enough.
And remember what I said about my chest and maybe getting an eentsy-weentsy too carried away? Well, you may have guessed...my nipples got irritated. Last night I had to use little spot band aids and cover up my nipples, they were so sensitive. On the other hand, a bra feels very protective and essential now. I want to watch out for my breasts and keep them sheltered. This morning I put on a camisole and that felt a lot better...but my wife comes home today and since I am not out to her (or anyone else around here, for that matter) I will have to put on the figurative "big girl panties" and act like it doesn't hurt. I can REALLY sympathize with the GG's now when they talk about how their nipples hurt during puberty.
So...has anyone else been through this? Any suggestions on how to ease the sting? I am going to run over to Wal-Mart and see if they have any aloe vera in pure form..and a few more camisoles!

Can you tell us what type of skin you have (pale, light, tan, dark; tough, delicate) and what products you used? Everyone reacts differently to different products, but more information is always good for everyone.

It has been said that when someone finally invents a permanent inhome hair removal system, it will be a crossdresser!!!! Yes those hair removal cremes seem to work, Nair and that stuff from Australia, Nads?. I have not seen the face creme yet. What I have found works best for me is the new Gillette Vibrance razors. They make one for women and one for men. They have a little battery in the handle which causes the head to vibrate and if you take it slow they do an excellent job! They both work in the shower or tub. I use Nair once in a while, but it does irratate the skin on my legs. I tried it once on my chest -FORGET THAT!!! It took a week for my skin to recover.
Guess laser is the best if you have $2000.00 or so!

Hi! Back again after a trip to Colombia.
Dear Zippy,
I used the Nair products - one for face, one for body. I have relatively tough skin (in spite of a lot of HydroDerm usage!!) and it is a light tan color. I've used the Nair face product again and it works fine, so long as you don't leave any water on your face when applying.

Hi all,
Charla,
Yes, I've been through that. Last winter, thinking I wanted to be super-smooth, I Naired myself twice in a row. HUGE mistake! I think I actually managed to burn my nipples. It took several days for them to heal properly (I wore satin inserts in my bra to protect them in the meantime).
You say "Ouch!" but, trust me, you don't know the meaning of "Ouch!" until you've had a full-body waxing (I was "under the wax" for roughly six hours total, on two near-consecutive nights, last May). But what a result! (Yeah, yeah, yeah, Beauty, I know... laser, LASER!

)
Charla, I saw a gel-based product on the pharmacy shelf today (while I was buying some depilatory) that claimed it could reduce or prevent the little skin "bubbles" that occur when shaving the bikini line, where the hair is coarser. I'm wondering if it could be used on other areas of the body and if it could be used as a soothing gel once you've Naired yourself. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name now. Another product I noticed: Nair For Men. Yep, a whole body depilatory cream specifically tailored for gents (meaning: a marketing coup... more expensive). I was at the salon this afternoon having my eyebrows waxed and the beautician (who has experience waxing men) said she'd never heard of Nair For Men even though she's well aware that many men choose to go hairless.
Anyway, depilatory creams contain potent and corrosive chemicals; follow the directions scrupulously.
Love,
CJ

Ouch indeed, hon! I'll be honest; that's why I keep putting off getting my legs waxed.

I have contniued to Nair myself for the past couple of weeks. My wife didn't notice for a while (I am not out to her) and then finally she reached inside my pants while we were hugging and said with some surprise "Did you shave your _ss?" I admitted and she said she didn't care...I may even ask her to help on some of the hard-to-reach spots!
I tried the laser route for my face - after 3 treatments at 100$ each there was no reduction in beard growth - not even a little!

Hi Charla,
After three treatments I didn't experience significant hair loss either. There was a loss, but I still had to shave.

So I wonder if you applied band -aids or some other covering to your nipples ahead of time if you could use those products safely?

Thanks to all for the suggestions. I think I will try waxing - there are some spots on my back that I just can't get to.
The bandaids are a good idea. I had to wear some afterwards since my nipples were so sensitive - the circular ones fit just fine.

A few months ago, I finished with laser epilation after a year of treatments and (with the exception of two areas on my forearms) what little hair remains is very fine. I haven't been for waxing yet, because my skin is so ridiculously tender

and pale. I think after a few weeks of short visits to the tanning bed this fall, I'll be able to hold up to a full body wax.
And for everyone worried about shaving/waxing that bikini area, the laser worked wonderfully

there for me. Although my wife didn't initially like the lack of hair, she's now wondering if she should go for laser treatment of her bikini area.
