Frustrated Shopper

Went shopping today (Walmart) for a new skirt and a couple of blouses. As usual when I got home the bloues were too tight and the skirt too big. As a male (in drab)wondering through the womens department, I always feel rushed and suspicious, therefore not taking the time to properly size items. I have tried buying items on e-bay, but there is only a 10% chance that it will fit when it arrives.

Don't get me wrong, I have a very nice wardrobe, but it just gets frustraing sometimes when you are try to find something new.

Any of you have the same problem or suggestions?

KT I use to think the same way when shopping but now after one afternoon I do not.

I went shopping one afternoon looking for a birthday present for my wife so I was in the womans department to do it and actually was taking alot more time than I normally do because it had to be that perfect gift. When I realized that it is perfectly normal for men to be in the womans area an taking a long time. In male mode we are not suppose to know how to buy clothing for our wife's. So when I go looking for something for Gelinda, I think of that day an I take my time.

Thanks Gee. I try to put myself in the "shopping for her" mode also. But I guess I just feel suspicious looking and clothes that are my (XXL) size. Then I get in a hurry and get it wrong.

Great advice!!!

Like KT I always feel a bit weird. Once I went into Victoria Secrets to buy my wife all new bras and panties. The women in the store kept looking at me funny. Even when I got to the register and the things were laid out and they were clearly not my size or even close at all, I still got "the vibe". I'll admit it though, it could have been me giving off something that they were picking up on.

Beauty: I thought about the vibes. I have in the past when they start that look at that them an make a funny face at that them that makes them self conscious.

The one that bothers me the most is the saleslady that keeps asking can I help you. I usually tell them I am buying for my wife as a present or something. I hate lying but sometimes it is the only way.

First, do not be intimidated! Unless the salesperson knows your wife, how would they even know what size she is or your mother or your sister or your aunt or even a daughter. I have never been asked "Who is this for?" If they have the gonads, if you will to even ask it, a simple "none of your damn business!" will surfice!! At the check out they should not care what you are buying as long as your money is green or your plastic doesn't bounce. Beleive it or not most of the time they are thinking, "I wish my boyfriend/husband was sweet enough to go out and buy something for me!" Well you are buying it for yor significant other so what is "she" worth to you??
When the going gets tough, the tough go shopping!

When shopping in large retail outlets, ie Wal-Mart, JC Penny it can be exceedingly distracting in as much as you are constantly overlooking your shoulder. I suggest that you shop at a small away from the mall type of Dress Barn and attempt to shop on Monday's I have always felt extremely comfortable doing the shoping on Monday mornings with no problems or incidents. On Monday's the staff is usually very helpful and will be most generous with their support of your shopping efforts. Good luck in locating a smaller retail outlet where the audience is not as large

First & foremost, welcome to the forum, hon!

Okay, now on to the subject at hand - shopping for our femme selves. We all get that "nervous" feeling whenever we approach the womens department in any store. However, it really is all in our minds. In this day & age nobody really cares if a man is looking through any women's department because yes, men do shop for women once in a while. And when we actually are, we don't feel that "nervous" do we? Many of us do not; or at least we should not!

Therefore, as far as everyone around us is concerned, that's what we're doing. Or we're shopping for a sister, or cousin, or whomever.

No matter how many clerks, no matter how many other shoppers there my be, the truth is NOT anybody's business but YOURS.

However, I will be honest - depending on the type of clothing you're buying, a given size will be too tight or too loose. I've been publicly dressing for 7 years now, and still sometimes go thru the old "trial and error" in terms of finding the right size. Don't fret; many GGs go thru this, as do every one of us!
