Thigh-Highs are back????

Of course to us Thigh-Highs were always in. But anyway, yesterday I go to the movies to watch The Ice Harvest, and I notice that Connie Nielsen goes through the whole movie with tan nylon stockings with garter on her very long lean legs. Usually you don't see that much anymore, and it's a treat every time. I remember a quick scene in the comedy Evolution where a couple of men are suprised by Julianne Moore's choice of a garter belt as a day function. Then yesterday,I see a trailer for The Producers, and You can't not notice Uma Thurman's stockings through the slit in her dress. Of course the movie is set in a time before pantyhose. So have ya'll noticed a resurgence of stockings like I have?

Oh yes, they are back with a vengeance, my dear, and are still as sexy and as versatile as ever.

Sorry I missed this originally, but I love the thigh highs, assuming you are talking about the type with the elastic at the top. Now don't get me wrong, but garter belts are sexy, but in the tighter skirts I choose to wear , well they show and to me that isn't sexy. I find that the more expensive thight highs with the wide to very wide elastic are much more comfortable as the narrow bands tend to cut into your thighs after a while.
and............needless to say, when in the powder room, well, speed, style and reconstruction are much easier than pantyhose! And always remember--- feet forward girls!

Ok, so I'm watching the new season of 24 on Monday night. and during the 10am hour I believe the First lady played by Jean Smart corners one of the aides in the men's room and asks him for a pass key to get into the phone archive room, after he refuses, she then opens her shirt exposing her bra, then lifts up her skirt to unhook her nylons, then tells the aide, "In about five seconds I'm going to scream bloody murder." he then hands over the pass key. But to me during this scene, all I can think is, "Hey the first lady has on some sexy thigh-highs."

I'm with Virginia 100%.
I LOVE to wear thigh highs.... rarely will I wear pantyhose. I can blame it on my wife.... she gave up pantyhose and starting wearing thigh high stockings some years ago.
Victoria's Secret used to have the best ones. Not real cheap, but stayed up well and looked great. They have since changed styles to ones that are not really as good.... and are more expensive.

Hanes "Silk Reflections" thigh-hi's are fine - comfortable, good-looking and much less expensive.

Where to get large size thigh-highs

OK, I admit it. I've got fat thighs! I'm 6'0" and about 230 pounds. I've never been able to figure out how to make thigh-highs stay up. They always want to fall down.
Any suggestions on where to find larger thigh-highs and how to figure out the right size?
Thanks!
Veronica

Lane Bryant is your best bet for finding your size. (They're extremely CD friendly, BTW.) You're probably about a size C or D. What you're looking for are often referred to as "stay ups" -- they've got bands of a sticky material on the inside of the top of the stocky, which will stop them from slippy. FYI, these aren't good for using with garter belts, since the bands make it tough to buckle the straps, so you need "plain" ones for that.

I've found the Berkshire Romantics line to be excellent. They have a wide lace band that stays up quite well. They have sizing in queen, so you might want to give them a try. I used to buy them at Foleys dept store, I'm not sure if they carried over to Macys, but I'm sure you can still find them at most better dept stores. Watch for sales and you can get a great buy. I did that and paid about $3 a pair for them.... so, I stocked up!
As for garters with thigh high/stay ups... you can use them sometimes. Most will have bands of silicone, and you need to attach the garter between those bands. It can work great on the right stockings.
Good luck.... and have fun!

The non-elastic top ones sell cheaper but require a garter belt or hooks to a girdle, not too many sold. The elastic top are easy to wear especially in the powder room. For this reason, I believe they sell better than pantyhose

I love thigh-hi's, they sell them in what I wear for every day at Wal-Mart in boxes of 3 sets for less than $5. They also sell the sexier ones with the lace tops in the individual packages, you just have to look for them. I do occasionally but wear garter stockings as I have several garter belts in my collection but I'm wanting to get a garter belt with 6 or 8 straps to help hold them up but they are hard to find.
