Just found a site for those of you who may be looking for wigs:

They are a bit. hell they are expensive, compared to other sites I have visited or bought from as I have about 10 wigs. Wish I had found this place first. They are beautiful and appear well made and all styles and sizes and colors - check it out and let me know what you think!

Nice site....but wigs can be confusing. For instance..I know some girls that have bought from this site http://www.beautytrends.com/ and have been more than happy. Funny thing is, both sell the same brands...I'll use Revlon for example, since my last one was a Revlon. Both sites carry the brand...but the names of the styles don't match at all...go figure. I've bought my last few at a beauty shop and they might have been a bit more expensive than buying online, maybe not, but the service!! And a trim and advice!. But...your site seems neat..and as I said..I know girls who ordered from beauty trends...so...guess its a matter of good references. Main advice is, never order from a CD site....super markups. And our hair is our defining statement!!!

How did you like the Revlon wig? I have been getting mine from Paula Young, and they are nice, but I am not adverst to trying some other supplier. First you are right!! The CD sites are more for the closeted CD and do tend to be expensive for ........ well anyway. Denae Doyle says the three things that we need most are 1. proper foundation 2. a nice smile 3. nice wig ---- I added a fourth a properly fitted and filled bra!

Don't know if you have noticed but paula young wigs are quite small fitting, so I thought I would add some brands to help those with different sizes of heads.

PY and some Revlon wigs can be on the small side, I can't wear PY, there just to uncomfortable on me, and I have a average head size 22" inches. I have a couple of revlon wigs, which I can wear, but there a very snug fit

Best average sized wigs i've found are Noriko/Rene of Paris/Amore all the same company and a great maker of stylish wigs these I have found not only fit me best, but also are the most likely to come out of the box,looking like those in the catalogue pictures.

If the person has a really large head 24"+ try the Adolfo range, they have limited range of large wigs (4 I think) but better to have one and be comfortable, over one you feel is going to pop off at any second!!!

The one in my avatar, however, was purchased at a local shop. My wife took me in and the shop owner had no qualms with fitting me.

I hope resurrecting old threads isn't considered gauche, but this seems like a timeless topic. I'll definitely check into some of the sources listed here as I'm getting the urge, but I also wanted to add a positive review for a site I don't see listed here: http://www.acewigs.com

The site carries a lot of rather nice product, typically heavily discounted. I've picked up two Noriko wigs from them that were delivered promptly and I'm very happy with them. They also offer a "rental" model for color samples for Noriko and perhaps others. You buy the color sample ring from them, and return it with your next order for a refund.

Yes, Kimberly, Ace wigs is one of my favorite sites too! But I believe that when you return the color ring, which they have available for most manufacturers, what you paid gets credited to your purchase.

Their regular prices are good but make sure that you check out the Monthly Specials (10% more off) and I always keep an eye on the inventory reduction section where I have purchased some very good wigs for even less. (sometimes up to 50% off)

Of course the basis for their claims of reductions is the MSRP, but still their prices are some of the lowest I've seen on the net (but not always the lowest)

TWC, the wig co. has a large array of wigs from cheap to expensive. My SO has bought some for her as well as me. The ones on sale are not returnable at 19 to 30 dollars. Best wigs are between 32 and 60 dollars for style ertc.

I've purchased 5 wigs now. Two I threw away, one sits in the box I bought off someone from this forum.

The two I wear all the time I bought from a local wig shop. The owner is CD friendly and styled it for me (she also picked both of them out for me.) This was much more expensive but well worth it. I'll never buy one off the web again.

Agreed. A good wig store with a sales person who knows what they are doing rocks my world. They can give you all sorts of help you didn't even know you needed, and they can help you restyle the wig so it looks right on you. I'm just guessing, but I bet most wig stores are pretty familiar with CD types.

I get mine from a wig shop in "old town" Alexandria, Virginia. (Hollywood Fashion Wigs).
The store manager picks out styles she thinks will work (I can always say "no") and I try them on in the store. She also styles them before final purchase if they need adjustments.
I've never bought wigs from a web site-- can't try them on.
And I believe that CDers provide a significant portion of the wig shop's income. I always go there "dressed" and ran into another CDer there once.

For those of us in especially the North of England, I cannot recommend highly enough Wigs-R-Us in Southport (http://www.wigsrusltd.com/) Jennie, the owner has a long relationship going back nearly 40 years with our sorority. I went this past summer to see her to buy a new wig. In a two hour consultation, she not only completely changed my mind as to what I wanted but she showed me what looked best on me and in the end I was delighted with our final choice.

The visits are by appointment only but she has a customer base ranging from Japan to the US west coast.

Now I am saving up for a real hair wig and I will be going back to Wigs-R-Us to buy it.
