The next Kappa Beta meeting is Saturday afternoon. One of the board members suggested a theme for the meeting, that everyone wear something black and white. Not long after, I discovered the top above. My local Torrid store didn't get them in, so they had to send for one from Atlanta. It's very cool. It's got a pirate vibe to it, and I just had to have it. I'm going to be wearing black pants with it, but I can't decide on the style.

Normally I'd post something like this in the "Dear GG" section, but I wanted everyone's input.

Well I vited on the Palazzo pants.

However, I thing a black Prairie (Gypsy) skirt would go best. With a skirt, you can let it hang naturally or wear a petticoat underneath to give it shape.

I think a nicely fitted pair of black jeans and high heels would look great, a good combination of casual but sexy at the same time, ideal for a Saturday afternoon.

Love,
Curly :)

Definately a nice pair of black jeans. It would be great if you could find a lighter weight pair since it is in the afternoon and I'm sure it wil be quite hot...

I'll not speak for Jaye, but I know with my weight, jeans just don't cut it :P

Donna,

I have neither a gypsy skirt nor a petticoat. The only black skirt is too short for this top.

Sharon,

I actually have a lightweight pair of black pants, these:

To be honest, I hadn't thought about those at all, which is ironic, since I got the pants around the same time as the top.

Curly,

Heels are a must. I'm just trying to decide between sandals or something with closed toes. I was thinking about these, maybe:

I had to google Palazzo pants. After looking at them and envisioning the top with the pants I voted on the palazzo pants. I think that being that the shirt has a pirate feel to you then something in a pirate loose kind of pant would be cool looking. Also a look I think you could pull off quite well.

I think a real nice pair of light weight black jeans would look just great with that.

Gaven,

I've thought about the palazzos again and again, because of the temp, but I keep coming back to the tighter pants. If it was cooler, I'd play up the pirate theme to the hilt, and blouse my pants into a pair of knee-high boots. I still might do that, come fall. This isn't the only time I've ever going to wear this top.

If you need something to compare the palazzo pants to, think of the hakama that Japanese martial artists wear:

less the shoulder straps and some of the pleats. In fact, when I first tried these on, I envisioned wearing them while practicing sword forms (something else I haven't done in too, too long).

Just in case anyone was wondering, the Kappa Beta meeting is this coming Saturday, not last weekend. I'd always thought meetings were on the third Saturday. Turns out they're on the "third Saturday following the first Friday", for some obscure reason. Anyway, they're expecting a larger turnout for this one, so I'm hoping it'll be a good gathering.
