Just curious

Since I got no replies on my post concerning the UdefineU sale of DVD's on how to stand, sit, walk, poise as a woman, I am just curious if any of you actually have bought tapes from either Denae Doyle ( www.FemImage.com ) or UdefineU ( www.UdefineU.com )??

I would like to know your concerns like you don't want your family, SO, et.al., to see or know you have the DVD's or what? I know they have really helped me with my presentation and even SL found a few things that helped her. Little things like a feminine way to put on and take off your coat or put your purse on your shoulder or entering or exiting a car or even a room.

Thanks for replying (and no I don't get a commission for either site! [-X )

Love,

Virginia

Hi Virginia. Yes, sometime back I bought Denea Doyle's VHS tape and Andrea James' voice training dvd. I really found nothing useful about Doyle's program, since most of that was already part of what I was doing just from reading, and some of what she was recommending would be great if doing the model walk, but not so useful in everyday use shopping for groc. etc. Walking in heels is made a bit easier with some of her training, and improves your wriggle. It's just not the same as taking direct lessons, I think.

Andrea James dvd on voice? Well, it would have been better and less distracting if she did not appear on the dvd. No, it's not that she is unprepossessing or anything like that. When she talks, she lifts her head and points with her chin and sits ridgidly, though in apparent relaxation with her body attitude and seems relaxed at first. But her head is lifted so much and her neck stretched it becomes, I dunno, kinda distracting and you wonder if she can do her own program with her head carried at a natural angle. I have seen her in other venues, and she does not go around like that, and I am not sure why she was doing that on the DVD. (Shrug).

As far as the content, if I closed my eyes most of the time it was OK, but also what I had gleaned from my reading. It was easier to excercise it following her, but I would say it is of limited use.

There was a young TS lady that was on a two part UTube thing that did quite as well, and maybe better. I think there is a link to that on the forum somewhere?

I made the most progress with my voice when I took personal lessons from a voice teacher, and she did help me, but was very expensive ($135/hour) and I just couldn't afford many lessons and get my facial hair cleared.

Personally, I think if you are a good mimic for voices (I am not), you can listen and pull a decent voice from your own experience with people. I have a GM friend that can do a better girl voice than me, but he just does it for fun when ordering at a drive through speaker to mess with the peoples minds. It's just so effortless for him, and her I am struggling with it. :? Attempting to mimic dialong from people on TV or singing along with female singers and trying to match their voice is OK as excercise also, but people singing are not speaking and their voices often are different when talking. You really need a recorder to hear what you might sound like to others, esp. on the telephone.

More important is the way you pronounce words, and drawing a word out in a kindia la-z-z-zy way (should come natural to a Virginia gal LOL) like a drawl or a Valley Girl, and sending your voice into you head so it resonates there around your sinus process rather than grunting words from your chest. And ennunciate! Women learn to speak more clearly and often place more emphasis on and extending the apparent number of sylables in a word, like didn't is dident, where a guy will be more like diden.

Anyway, I do not recommend the DVDs and Tapes unless you want them for self confidence.

Love, Carolynn

I learned the most from observing GG's in the environment I wanted to be in. My first forays were to the mall so I spent many hours there in male drab watching how women acted and wore, same for everything else. I think we make too much of the "passing" issue. Personally I don't give a rat's a** whether I pass as much as I care how I am treated and what type of service I receive. I believe in my right to an alternative lifestyle does not allow anyone to treat me poorly and believe me I am the first to send a nasty e-mail to anywhere where I feel I have been mistreated. If we do not stand up for ourselves no one will!

I have only purchased a make up video from Femme fever(www.femmefever.com) and found it to be very useful,at least for me.As for mannerisms and voice I think it comes naturally. That is only based on what others have told me during the years I would go out.I remember asking the wife of a C.D friend for tips one night and she only said I was doing ok and didnt need help.I dont know if it is really true or not but it is a mute point right now as no one sees me as Jennifer. 8-[

I selected --No, I have never purchased DVD's or tapes--, assuming you meant feminine teachings, and not drama's or comedy and such.

I purchased the www.femmefever.com video also. Somewhat happy with it. I just ordered a book about faces, I am hoping I will like that better than the video. I didn't post yes on the video, I can find as much if not more on the web for free.

I havent bought any video, but have watched a couple at TriEss meetings. Afew things come natural for me and the rest is observation. The hardest thing to get is feedback, particularly for body language.

I also think there is some other finesse involved in carrying ones self based on size. I have noticed different sized people have subtle differences in the way they move. I need to move like someone who is 5'9" not 5' or 6' But maybe Im just being picky.

I voted NO as I believe I have had the best lesson ever, a wonderful wife who keeps me in line and will correct me if I'm doing something wrong. I have dress since I was 14 and it just come natural to me, now the hand movements and carrying a purse on your arm not your shoulder are things I still need help with, my wife saids I'm fighting it relax. :?

Odd ball me again. There is not really an answer for me. I picked comes natural to me as what little I do does come natural. I have picked up some from watching other GG's, more on the how to deal with skirts and such. But in general I am just my male self. And my wife says when I am out my actions, movement and voice are just male me with my feminine influence.

No, I haven't gotten much from the limited DVDs that I've seen--couldn't even tell you who they were, now. I do my own videos at home, and that helps some. As Karen said, I'm not really concerned with passing; what I really care about is how I'm treated. I will acknowledge, though, that the more feminine movements I do, the better I 'blend in' wherever I go.
