How I got started.

You know, I think it was my mom who unbeknowingly started me on this rode. When I was very young, I had left my cold and wet gloves outside. Our family had to go out for the evening, and because my gloves were wet, she made me wear a pair of my sister's gloves. At the time I remember feeling embarassment and maybe even humiliation at being out in public wearing girl's gloves, but in retrospect, it probably wasn't such a big deal. No one said anything to me, and they probably didn't even notice because they were just ivory colored knit gloves. But I think that sparked something in me.

I grew up in a home with two sisters. One day when I was twelve, I went into the bathroom and hanging on the shower rod was a pair of light blue pantyhose. I felt them and they felt nice. I took off my pants and underwear and put them on, and I was hooked.

Once I was old enough to be left home alone, I tried on all of my sister's pantyhose. From there, I expanded my exploration to include bras, slips, blouses, sweaters, skirts, dresses, and shoes. I even occassionally wore her nighties.

My favorite outfit was taupe pantyhose, a black bra, a black ribbed knit dress, the hem of which ended a few inches above my knees and tan sandals. It was the 1970s and my sisters wore a lot of short dresses and skirts, and a lot of pantyhose and high heels.

Once I was on my own, I began to acquire my own pantyhose and clothes. I never wore my sisters' panties, and didn't wear any panties for a long time, but now I do.

I wasn't lucky enough to have any sisters, only 4 brothers, but my mom was short, so her clothes fit well.

Thank you for sharing your background, Chrissy. It's always interesting to see the similarities and differences among us!

I think I would have gotten a handle on my own gender a lot faster if I'd had a sister growing up, or if my mother had been inclined to wear anything the least bit feminine. As it was, I grew up more or less androgynous and it wasn't until I started dating that I had an opportunity to begin discovering who I was.

I honstly never liked the whole panty thing. Boyshorts are alright, but I like men's better simply because they support. I like old bloomers, though, they're airy and roomy. Too bad most ''normal'' stores stopped making them, and I feel weird thrifting for underwear, considering a lot of that stuff is donated.

Anyhoo, that's my 2 cents.
