I had to look it up to see what the book was about:
"For more than a decade, Kevyn Aucoin has been the makeup artist of choice for fashion and entertainment royalty. But Kevyn believes that makeup gives everyone the power to transform themselves and try out new personas. His new book, Making Faces, starts with unbeatable tips on the Nbasics of makeup application and technique. Then he shows you how to use these fundamentals in all kinds of interesting and unconventional ways, with step-by-step directions for dozens of different looks. Making Faces also features instructional full-color sketches with each face, a gallery of noncelebrity transformations, and, of course, fabulous images of more than a score of stars and supermodels as you've never seen them before. If you want to look your best, be creative, try some new ideas--and have fun doing it--Kevyn Aucoin's Making Faces is the book for you."

Kevyn Aucoin was a god when it came to making up! I've got his book Face Forward, which came after Making Faces. Some of the things he does are truly amazing, yet he shows how to pull of the same effects with inexpensive drug-store brand cosmetics. In that book, he uses assorted celebrities (and ordinary folk) to reproduce the images of famous people and characters. His transformation of a young man into Linda Evangelista (based on a Steven Meisel photo) is breathtaking.
He was on my short list of people I really, really wanted to meet, but Mr. Aucoin died in 2003 of some sort of brain disorder.
