Just joined this forum
Hi Everybody
I have been watching this forum for a while, and finally decided to join.
I feel like I am away from the usual pattern of crossdressers. I am almost sixty, and have been dressing since I was about 14. I am 'stuck', because I still prefer teenage / twenty something styles.
I don't have the face or body to 'pass', and that has never interested me. For me, dressing is a private and quite exciting experience. That is why I don't have a wig or makeup, and why I have obscured my face.
Looking at the avatar, you wouldn't know that ...
This is an outfit I just bought - there is a story behind it if anyone is interested.
I was very interested is Merissa'a adventures, and this is as close as I have seen to someone with my interests.
Perhaps you can help me a bit here. I am interested in posting a set of photos, and building a web site. These are both a lot of work, so I would like to know first if anyone is interested in seeing them.

Welcome Shenica,
You have chosen a rather unique name, I like it! Glad that you decided to become active with us and with you experience, I am sure that your sisters here could benefit from your experiences. We all seem to travel a little different path with our gift, and there is definitely nothing wrong with that. Just acknowledging that you are a crossdresser is something to be proud of and then you begin to acknowledge that it is a gift and you are on your way.
Look forward to hearing more from you!

Thanks for the kind welcome, Anita and Virginia.
When I got started as a teenager, the styles were very conservative. That would be early 60's - the uptight 60's. Knee length skirts, stockings, sweaters. At that time it was difficult to get clothing, so I had to make do with what I could find. My family did a lot of charity work, so there were always boxes of clothing being collected, sorted and distributed. I was always very willing to help. More than a few things were delayed a while before they were distributed, but generally I could only get the younger girls styles.. These were shorter full skirts, tights, ankle socks.
I 'got moving' in the late 60's, early 70's. Miniskirts, pantyhose, knee length boots.I still prefer those styles. I also have a thing for white kneesocks & mary jane style shoes.
The outfit in the avatar is typical of my preferences, and almost exactly ideal.
Got to go right now, will write some more.

Hi Nikki, thanks for the note
Glad to find a kindred spirit.
Are you referring to MY grey hair(s) ?javascript:emoticon(':)')
Glad I still have more than one. The back view is kind of scary.
I had considered painting the hair darker but what would be the real benefit? I have to admit to everyone that I am almost 60 - I put that in the first post.
For me, the crossdressing is real, though hidden, even if the clothes don't suit my real age.
Coloring my hair, or a wig and makeup would not be me, as I see myself right now. As I posted in one of the other threads, I don't see myself as having a separate female personality.
Could we see some pictures of you some day?

Shenica,
Oh, I'm so embarrassed! I meant MY gray hairs, not yours! So sorry to be unclear. I don't think I'll ever color my hair, if only for the simple reason that I'd have to do it over and over again as it grows. But I definitely prefer my look with a wig and makeup. I don't do it often, but I had the best time when I did the photo for my avatar.
I do have other pics, but I'm hesitant to post them. Perhaps I will some day, but I'm a bit self conscious about them.

Hi Nikki
(I like your name - one of my neices has that name, spelled that way)
I feel it is a matter of respect to the others in the forum that I participate.
Posting photos was well outside my comfort zone for a long time. It took me quite a while to even take some - that was part of searching for who I am and admitting to this aspect of me.
I still have some anxieties about the photos
- what if nobody looks at them?
- what if everybody looks at them?
- and on and on.
The important thing for me is that in this forum, I believe I will not see any posts such as 'you look terible' or 'why on earth do you dress like that'. In other places I am sure that I would .
I am a little concerned that they stay on the 'most recent' section so long, but I am feeling more comfortable about that. I remember how quick I was to check out the galleries when I joined. If everybody was as shy as I was earlier, there would have been no gallery for me to check out.
Its' always difficult to share about our inner beings, and starting is very hard.

I am off on a journey to find the true me. If that person should show up before I return, please ask him/her to wait.
