As usual, this forum is such a great source of information and advice. I read all the previous postings on this topic, and they drilled home to me how important it is to follow the piercing instructions. So, anxious as I am to wear "dangly" earrings, I'll be good and wait. And I had no bad reactions at work......a few humorous ones, but all in good fun.
BTW SL, I have a maids outfit, but I don't do peanut shells

After 45 long years I plucked up the courage to get mine pierced last Sunday. :) I am so excited at the prospect of wering lovely dangaly earrings after the healing period when dressed and not getting sore ears from clip ons. So much better choice with pierced ears too. At present I have very small silver studs in and will wear those in male mode.

So far in the 3 days the no one has mentioned anything, they just looked initially for a moment longer (people I know at work) and thats it so far. Went to visit my Mother on Monday and she said nothing, but noticed.

So far all is great.

You've probably heard it and read it here before, but I'll reiterate my own experience.

I put in dangling earings as soon as I thought they were healed. I am 52 and my ears took longer so even though I wore the earings a few times, my ears started to bleed. I had to go back have them put back in, (I missed the hole some and poked another) then had to wait weeks before they healed again.

Long story short, WAIT till you are certain they are healed before you take out the starters.

Would I do it again? DEFINITELY. I love them. I want to get another piercing now!

I got mine pierced several years ago and they became infected so I took the studs out and let them heal, once they had healed I decided on DIY with a bottle of surgical spirit, this worked perfectly, I have now found that if I don't put in earrings it makes no difference even in the long term the holes are still there which is great.

I finally got the left ear pierced about 4 years ago on my SD's 16th birthday. I had said that since it was her Sweet 16th we would do what ever she wanted to do even if it meant she wanted me to get a piercing. She half joked that maybe we should get them both pierced, (my CD'ing was for the most part hid from her) I wish now that I had told her to go for it then. I love danglies but have to modify one with a magnet type ear ring for the right ear, it helps to be crafty. More out of the closet now and maybe I can talk my wife into piercing the other one soon [-o<

The Air Force doesn't allow men earings on during work hours or even on base when in civilian attire. I think it's really stupid, I dont' have mine pierced thought about getting one of my ears pierced.

I forgot all about this thread. I got my ears pierced in February for my birthday. The holes seem to have healed OK, and I have been alternating different studs, but wearing hoops or danglies when I go out dressed up. It's really a different feeling, compared with the clips I've always worn before.

Miss Robyn,
If you look at Wal-Mart you should be able to find some magnetic post type ear rings. They look like pierced post and you can wear them with out having to worry about the holes closing up when you can't wear them. I used one of these studs that closely matched regular stud and attached a cute danglie to them since I have one pierced and the other is not so it looks like I have a matching set until (if and when) I get the other pierced. They my get uncomfortable after several hours of wearing them, but you can just slide them to a different position. :-k

I work in an amazingly professional government environment and have had my left ear pierced for almost 18 years. When I started my job my boss noticed the empty holes in my left lobe and said I could wear them as her husband does as well. I did not wear an earing for almost a year.

I started wearing an earing an no one said a word except by boss who said she liked it.

I got my right ear pierced this past Friday and my boss said nothing till after lunch only to mention she wanted to make sure it was new, we discussed the how the right ear meant you were gay thing has lost its luster and she was totally cool with it.

Most of my coworkers have said nothing and those that have know me well enough to know its just jewelry and nothing more.
I have been out for over a year already WOW!

Well today it has been exactly one month since I got my right ear pierced. The fun part is no one cares or comments.

my wife has given me some hoops and I have worn them. I have had no pain but they do get tender if I wear other earrings for a wile.

my advise is as stated before, enough people have done it to be main stream. Just do it!

Isn't it an awesome feeling?! It has been a while, mine are well healed and I love the feel of heavy dangling earrings.

Do not know about the heavy part
When they are heavy, you can really feel them, especially if you move around. I just like the feel of them more when they are big and heavy!
