Kitties from Heaven

Post by Carolynn »

Hope this one is not posted under something I haven't read:

A minister was about to leave his house to begin his visits to shut-in members of his congregation. As he walked from his house, he saw a large dog chase a small kitten into a tree, where it set up a plaintive "mew". It was well up in the small tree, which was too small to climb, but too tall for him to reach the cat. After shooing away the dog, he tried to coax the small creature from the tree to no avail. The kind hearted man decided if he tossed a rope over one of the branches and attached that to his car, he could carefully bend the tree down until the kitten was in reach, and retrieve the frightened creature.

This procedure started out well enough, but just as he thought he had the tree sufficiently bent, the rope snapped and the small creature went sailing away, it's route obscured by the leafy tree branches. The upset minister drove the streets for a bit hoping to see the little cat, but didn't. At length, he regretfully commended the kitten to the hands of his God and set off on his duties, a bit more somber than usual.

Several days later, he had stopped by the grocery to pick up a few things for his good wife, when he saw one of his younger congregation. He was a bit surprised to notice cat food in her basket, as she was known to not care for cats. He commented on the cat food, and she looked at him and said:

"Minister, you will not believe this, I think, but my little girl has been at me for a while for a pet kitty. Day before yesterday she was pestering me about it while I was working in my garden, and I told her if God wanted her to have a cat, he would send it to her. She knelt down and started praying, and just as she said AMEN, a little kitten came flying through the air and she caught it in her arms. Now I'm a bit skeptical about miracles, but I saw this with my own eyes, so I guess by God's will, we now have a cat as a member of our family".

The amazed minister drove slowly home pondering the mysterious ways of his God.
