Funny True Story!!

Post by Lorna »

I was posting a message in a general message forum this morning, and had used the title "I'm the Scatman!" referring to a song from 1996.

Scatting means the "skiddly-diddly-dee-beebop" sounds that old jazz musicians used to say. (I'm a former DJ and a music history buff) In fact, that's how the song starts. You hear "Skat batdat-diddly-doodly-dee-doo-boo-doo. I'm the Scatman!" Then a techno dance beat starts.

Unfortunately the mods in that forum were not familiar with the song, hence they thought I was referring to something else!!

I was locked out of that forum for 3 hours until someone explained it to them. Can you believe that???

haha. That reminded me of an episode of Mystery Science theatre, where Paul Ankha was a bad guy in a movie. In one scene, he took off in his car with police in pursuit. One of the guys blurted out, "Oh he'll be easy to catch, just follow the trail of scat!"

LOL!!! I'm still cracking up over that misunderstanding... rotf rotf rotf But even though I'm 32, I am very well versed in music before "my time". I worked as a DJ for 4 years.

Tracy - I used to LOVE Mystery Science Theatre!!! I watched it religiously a few years back...

Carolynn - actually there were internet youngsters who were only familiar with the gross fetish meaning of the term. Kids!! !!tongue!! They knew NOTHING about that song from only 8 years ago, let alone classic jazz. My father used to listen to a lot of old jazz when I was growing up.

I even remember when "scat" was a term for "get lost". LOL!!! #-o

LOL

On xbox you can download music onto the harddrive and play the music while playing the games. I have Scatman on my xbox, nothing better then bombing round a corner flat out on xbox live singing...

"Skat batdat-diddly-doodly-dee-doo-boo-doo. I'm the Scatman!" :)
