That was their form of controlling the population growth. Not necessarily a 'bad' idea - although I understand, and agree to an extent, the pros and the cons.
As for believing in reincarnation, I've never actually thought about it, but I must have been 'Marlo' Andretti in my last life given the way I drive!

[quote="Nicole Pearce"]Hello-
Great thread-
My thought on the last post- Did you ever consider that earth is not the only place we re-incarnate to?? Just another perspective I'm kind of leaning towards- if there are billions of planets, this can't be the only one I could be a girl on
Hugs-

On the TV show Babylon 5, of a race called Minbari the soul of their great religious leader was reborn in a human body. This, at the last minute, stopped the destruction of humanity in a war fought over a mistake,
its a big universe, 100 000 000 000 stars in our galaxy and at least the same number of galaxies in the visible universe - who is to say its impossible.

Honestly, I don't believe in reincarnations or the afterlife or those sorts of things. Those things are beyond human understanding, and no matter how hard we try, we'll never fully understand what happens to us beyond this life. I'd rather just make the best of what little time we have on this earth rather than worrying about what happens to us when it's all over.

hey
I beleave that this is my first and only life, I must agree with Elizabeth here. Also, I think That reincarnation was & still is created to take away the empty feelings people get when thay loose someone thay love, thay would like to beleave thay can be joined again in some form. I have nothing againts this theory you present, I just find it extremly hard to beleave.

There is all sorts of documentation with young children who 'know ' things they aren't 'supposed' to know about places, people and situations events from the past.
I can't explain it . Just take a minute to think about how large the Universe is. Take a look into the night sky, see all those stars, our sun is only one of perhaps trillions.
There is no telling what out there or what is possible baout other planets and beings.
I've seen a ghost, so I know the material/physical world we live in is but a small shell of what reality is, and science is ill-equipped to delve into any of it.
I won't discount reincarnation. Or afterlife.

Hi girls,
I have to ask where this documentation is? People always say this, but I have yet to see one single shred of evidence. It is always just anecdotal evidence , that is repeated as if it were fact, but when push comes to shove, no one can actually come up with any evidence that it has happened.
I really hope that I have not offended anyone with my skeptisms, but I like to think of this place as a place to learn and a healthy skeptisism is a fundemental part of learning. It helps us separate out what we think or feel, from what we actually know.
So if anyone can point me to documentation where a person has talked about a specific person that they were in a past life, that would not be knowledge they could have aquired after thier beleif that they are from a past life, I would love to see it. I have an open mind and can beleive in things that seem counterintuitive, like clairvoyence and ESP, when well documented.
Love always,
Elizabeth

Well, of course, anyone can believe whatever they want to believe, but if those beliefs don't have any base in critical thinking, what's the advantage? Isn't one of the goals of life to gain a little wisdom?
Or not? Maybe I have a completely skewed view, it's possible, I will admit. Still, I do believe that the Earth orbits the Sun, not the other way around.

Hi all,
Just a word of caution, here. Critiques of other people's beliefs (whether these beliefs are founded in critical thinking or in some other way of relating to the world) are not the point of this thread. In fact, they're not even the point of this forum.
The question was: "Does anyone think they were a woman in a previous life?" not "Can you supply material evidence for your spiritual beliefs?"
Please, do not confuse the two questions.

Hi girls,
There are lots of people who beleive lots of things, all of which can never be proved. I admittedly have trouble in this area. I am just unable to make a leap of faith to beleive anything. The problem for me is always the same, I am required to beleive the words of other people, just because they beleieve.
I know this puts me in the minority and I really don't want to offend anyone. I am not challenging anyone elses beleifs, I am only saying what would have to happen for me to beleive it.
Love always,
Elizabeth
