Eye Liner

So I'm watching the Health Channel for the umpteenth time and the program about transsexuals and Dr. Marcia Bowers and anyway........

Kayla is putting on her make-up and I happen to notice how she is applying her eye liner. She pulls her lower lid down - GENTLY - and with a eyeliner pencil - GENTLY - covers the area between the lower lashes and the back of the lower lid! You know there is actually a space there and I can only assume that God in all HER infinite wisdom, put it there for that very purpose!!! Who knew?

SL has been telling me that I have a bit too much liner on my lower lid, so after a bit of "trial and error!" I think I got it and damn it works and it looks good!

I am sure most of you knew this - gheesh! someone could have told me!?
Anyway if you do do it, I would recommend a pencil, no liquid or sponge applicators - that is unless you perform brain surgery - one slip and your eye gets red and all teary ( I think ). The pencil should be fairly pointed, not sharp and yet soft.

Good tip Virginia, as far as Dr.Bowers goes I have notice more and more programs with her in them. She is a very beautiful lady and not afraid to go public about her passed and present.

Can you suggest a brand of eye-liner pencil? All the ones I've tried are much too hard.

Lydia, you might want to try Almay. Their eyeliner is faily soft, and comes with a built in sharpener.

I warm the tip of the eyeliner up a bit, on the back of my hand to make it softer. They tend to be harder when cold.

I like the L'Oreal eyeliner pencils. They're soft enough for just the type of use Virginia describes, and never need sharpening. Just a twist and you've got a bit more liner to use. Wipe the tip with a piece of tissue and it's as clean as can be.

I have had the best luck with Glimmersticks from Avon.Its the only eyeliner I have had sucess with.

Curley is right, warm the tip. If you have a cover on it you can tuck it into your bra or panties while you are doing your foundation and mascara to give it time to warm up some and make it softer. Mine sometimes seem as hard as a #2 pencil

Too funny,

I only knew this from watching her do it. I always though it looked painful or dangerous due to it was so close to the eyeball. Once I tried it, it was very easy to do, it kinda glides on. Really richens and deepens the eye.

I to use one that requires no sharpening. Maybeline Expertwear.

Also don't just assume to get black. If you are fair skinned or have brown hair use a brown mascara and a brown eyeliner. Looks mare natural, and we want to look natural right?
