A different slant on my 'last' purge

General talk about CD/TGing and gender topics that aren't necessarily fun things we do while en femme, or for gender-driven discussions.

A different slant on my 'last' purge

Post by TerriLynn »

My mom passed away in June of 2006. Now, to my knowledge, she never knew of my dressing, never was caught, but had several heart pounding near misses before I left for active duty in the Army.
After everyone went back home, being the closest in location, I got the job of taking care of her estate. My older sis and I decided that we should donate her clothes to Goodwill. My mom was always buying new clothes, and had a regular habit of going through her thinmgs and donating them when her closet would get full.
As I was taking her things and folding and packing them for the donation, I finally got to the end of the hanger rod, and hanging there, I found the first 2 dresses I had worn over 30 years ago. Wow. That came as quite a surprise/shock to me, as she had never gotten rid of them after all the other times she had cleaned out that closet, but I can not ever remember her ever wearing them over all those years.
This revalation definately hit me pretty hard. I just sat down with them and looked and all those memories came back about the times I would slip into them and have 'my' time alone as a teenager. Why had she never gotten rid of them? Did she really know about me back then, and just never said anything? A thousand questions came to mind, but I guess there will never be any answers for them.
After about 30 minutes of memories and a little crying, i folded them up, put them in the box, and took them to Goodwill. Maybe another young person like me will buy them and have some of the memories I have, or maybe not.
It all just really makes one wonder, just how secret a lot of us really are when starting out on our path to where we are now
I do know, that is the last time I will ever purge anything that is not worn or stained or stretched.

Very interesting. It does make you wonder.

Seems moms know more than they let on. Must be the eyes in the back of the head? :)
