Thank you for the warm welcome! I'm glad that you enjoyed reading this thread - - I agree, it's fascinating, but all true, too! Virginia refers to her 'Magical Mystery Tour', and I'm going to borrow that phrase because it applies to me, too!
This forum is all about discovering, learning, acceptance, sharing, support, and friendship - - and I'm finding all of that and more in the short time that I've been here.

My wife, when I was first found out, asked her doctor if I was a problem to be around my daughter. He said that he was no expert, but that she should be more concerned with me being around her son (my step son) who is gay.My first thought was that I wanted to educate all of them of their erroneous beliefs that being a cd did not equal being gay; one of those friends is a Dr. - he should know better ::sigh::.
What a miss-informed stooge! Doctors are people and just as fallable as the rest of us. He needs to be more informed before giving an opinion. I am not surprised that your doctor friend was stonewalled to reply.
And BTW... Welcome SilverLady, pleased to make your acquaintance.[/quote]

Thank you, Carol - I'm pleased to make your acquaintance, too!
Personally, I've always felt that if you couldn't make an informed opinion - on any subject - then you shouldn't say anything at all. "A closed mouth gathers no foot!" When I'm not factually sure about something, I always preface it with "Well, I'm not really sure, but I would think that ....." or words along those lines. Remember the good ole saying about "cya" - and this is something that as a paralegal I had to make sure I did all the time!
The first impression is always the one that stays with someone, and in your case, the doctor's misinformed comments. If I were you, I would have provided the doctor with whatever literature you could about cd's (like from Tri-Ess, Rainbow Trail, etc.) so the doctor could, possibly, change his opinion. At the very least, you can say that you tried.
I hope that your life with the wife and kids are okay, especially in light of the doctor's comments!

Actually, things could not be better!I hope that your life with the wife and kids are okay, especially in light of the doctor's comments!
After some extensive web research, my wife switched doctors.
I've not had big problems with my step son, other than some bumpy teenager things that we have out grown.
